Named "Runabout of the Year" by Powerboat Magazine, the 277 Islander's unstoppable mix of space and speed and total control is your VIP pass to fun. Two innovative deck configurations feature room for 10 so everyone can join in comfortably. Bring your wakeboards and water-skis - ingenious storage space built into the engine lid and into the floor keeps them out of the way until you're ready to shred wakes and grab air. Stay out as long as it takes to get your go-fast fix thanks to an enclosed head and built-in cooler storage. Baja's True V-hull slices easily through chop for the ride you desire, and high gunnels ensure additional safety. Let the good times roar.

The 277 Islander is a large stylish runabout. The boat, in addition to dock appeal, offers beyond-runabout performance and clever features, Baja seems to have nailed it. You can board the boat via the centre walk-through in the sun pad, which can be converted to a tanning bed with a filler cushion (included). Two permanent cushions on each side of the walk-through opened on gas struts for access to large stowage lockers.  You can store various items in those lockers.

The immediately noticeable feature in the cockpit is its W-shape rear bench. An inspired option, the bench, which also had a centre walk-through, is configured so that the outside passengers faced slightly toward one another to make conversation easier. The unique seat enhanced intimacy without compromising space. To better use the area, the bench was set up to accommodate two coolers beneath it.

Contributing to the 277 Islander's "sport boat not runabout" feel is a pair of bolsters with manual dropout bottoms. In the console ahead of the co-pilot's bolster on the port side a head locker with a portable head, headliner and courtesy light. In addition to the lockers under the sun pad, there are stowage compartments in the driver's console and in the sole of the walk-through. The helm station is all performance, with a Livorsi™ instrument layout that is logical and easy to read at speed. A tilt wheel and fully adjustable bucket seat with flip-up bolster make the helm great for all drivers. Stereo controls for the Clarion CMD4 at the driver's finger add all the command power a boater needs.

The 277 is a joy to drive. With its 425-horsepower engine running 4,750 rpm, the boat tops out at 65 mph, which is a very reasonable top speed for a family oriented bow rider, regardless of its sporty appearance. Time to plane with the trim tabs down is 4.4 seconds and the boat hits 47 mph in 15 seconds from a standing start. Running from 20 to 40 mph takes 7.1 seconds.

Baja warranties the hull for five years and the gel coat for three years.  A two-year engine warranty makes the Baja purchase secure.
